IT Support for Tribal Courts
Share
The ability to have an IT support person or department is not currently possible in many tribal courts but is becoming necessary with overall increasing dependence on technology. Tribal areas have their own sovereign courts so in depth U.S. government involvement and funding is limited. For example, the existing government sponsored bandwidth programs such as the Free Native Nerd network for the Pacific Northwest or the National Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program often have funding gaps or have sectionalized availability to certain tribal areas only.
Thus, the IT support Speech2Data offers with S2D 300VT is a great solution. It is included with the product and Wi-Fi is not always necessary with the device’s ability to archive recordings not only virtually but on the device itself. Speech2Data IT professionals would assist with existing IT initiatives, with training those on location if asked, and could be contacted for any issues regardless of the location of the device.
It is cost effective as it is only provided if there is a problem and does not outsource the few to none existing staff on location. An IT support person can assist with not only court proceedings, but also local kiosks and “zoom room” established locations when remote participants don’t have access to technology to call in or meet online. This allows for accurate recordings to be taken at more sites outside of court as well as directly from those remote participants that have the technology and knowledge on how to use it.
At a minimum support would be used for remote set up, minor maintenance, or on call consultations. It is professional, specialized, low cost, used only as needed, and would provide on the spot immediate fixes if any problems should occur even during a live trial.
